I had recently purchased auto insurance from Tata AIG and I am totally dissatisfied. I had purchased it straight from TATA AIG (not through agents) via tele-sales. My basic grievance is that of misrepresentation of details while introducing the schemes to me. The finer details of the schemes were conveniently not mentioned during the sale process. As I was new and it was the first time I had purchased insurance by tele-sales I was easily conned. I had complained to TATA AIG but it fell on deaf ears. Here are a few suggestions to you buyers (if you are getting insurance via the telephone) :
1) ask for the finer details. they will never mention it.
2) before you pay the money, ask for a rough copy of the policy document so that you know what are the exact insurance details. I had asked them for this but I only got an email from the sales person, which I assumed was ok. This is not ok. After payment your policy details remain, and any grievance redressal will take time.
3) If at all some add on is offered or benefits are given, make sure it is ON THE POLICY DOCUMENT.
4) Read reviews online or from friends who have experience of buying insurance. (which I never did)
