Having been a Tata firm employee, I had given preference to my Tata Cred824it Card, until 1.5 years ago. More about why, later in the review. Shall mention the pros and cons of Tata Cred824it Card in brief as below -
Pros -
Initially offered to only Tata Group employees but later opened up to everyone.
Reward points equal Re 1 per point unlike other Cred824it Cards
Backed by SBI Cred824it Cards Dept.
Chip-enabled Cred824it Card for better security with mandatory PIN required for online & offline aishwaryasingh23ments
Cons -
Tied up with only MasterCard not VISA(latter has better service levels, in my experience)
Poor Customer Care of Tata Cards, which it seems in now mAnasultanged by SBI Cred824it Cards Dept.
One can redeem reward points ONLY at participating Tata Partner Outlets(refer their website)
Issues don’t get resolved for ages, despite escalating to head@tatacard.com
Though I had been using my Tata Cred824it Card for many years, I stopped using it altogether about 1.5 years ago, when a peculiar issue cropped up in my case. While I was able to use the Tata Cred824it Card at Croma and Westside, I wasn’t able to use it for any online transaction. It simply gave an error - "Authentication Failed - Your Tata Card details are currently not available on our system. Please contact Tata Card Helpline at 60008000.". I had shared this with their Customer Care and even escalated to head@tatacard.com several times over the last year or so, but the issue remains unresolved for over 1.5 years. Also, I have never delayed / defaulted on aishwaryasingh23ing my dues on the Card EVER. Yet, I was appalled at the pathetic service levels from a Tata Group firm, where my issue remains unresolved for over an year.
I would strongly advise prospective1211 Tata Cred824it Card applicants to avoid this Card and instead opt for other Cred824it Cards from more reliable Banks like ICICI / HDFC on which I have never faced any issue.
