Telco asked to replace defective Tata Indica engin

The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has upheld the District Forum’s order directing Telco to replace the defective engine of a Tata Indica car and compensate the customer for causing mental agony.


’’Khanna (complainant) had spent his hard-earned money to purchase the vehicle and if it had to be taken to the workshop so often, it must have caused him immense mental agony besides harassment, ’’ the Commission said


His woes seemed endless when the car had to be taken again to the workshop pn August 28, 2000 for failure of front axle, front shockers, heater plugs, wheel rim etc. AC was rectified only one year after the purchase of the vehicle, Khanna said.


Khanna said he purchased the Tata Indica car from Telco dealer Concord Motors , adding that the vehicle carried a warranty for 18 months.


But after running just 1, 413 km, the car had to be taken to workshop as its AC was not working and the vehicle was consuming lots of engine oil, he said, adding that the car also failed in pollution norm
