Bob Lutz, the CEO of General motors is said to have made this statement:
Exteriors (Car) are what get the people to a showroom, and interiors is what makes them buy it (Car).
I bought a Tata Indica V2 petrol around 6 months back. It was a aged(new) vehicle which I got at a decent price. Before I had bought the vehicle I was pretty sceptical about the performance and overall quality of the Indica. Frankly speaking some of the reviews I read did not help in boosting my enthu to buy the vehicle. However I literally caught hold of people I saw on the road with a petrol Indica and asked them for their opinions. None of them had complaints. Two of the owners had the vehicle for the last 2 years...and they were happy with it. However they had some reservations about its fuel economy in the city.
I anyway bought the Indica. Another thing...I am a designer and have worked for GM as well..so I have come across the best vehicles one can think of and that made me even more particular about the interiors of the vehicle.
Excellent driving experience. Lot of power and even more room. Interiror trim is disappointing, however the latest ones are better. The steering could be better designed. Like a lot of other components inside, it gives a cheap grey plastic feel.
The engine is responsive and the car runs fine on high gears even at low speeds (20 kmph on the 4th). The boot looks big but space is limited. Somebody else has also mentioned the rattle of the parcel shelf, and also the door of the glove compartment.
As I said earlier there is a lot of room for the passengers inside. Driving position is good and the airconditioning is decent, if not the best.
The all so important fuel mileage...10-11 kmpl in the city with the petrol version...I personally am not a great fan of diesel, so have to live with the petrol costs..
And finally one important thing...the vehicle has its pros and cons...but the pros which you get at this price make the car good value for money...and the diesel version would give you even more value ;-)
