A TRUCK IT IS from the service point of view

15/10/2010I had knocking problems in the engine, I have been several times to VST service station to find out the problem, it was never diagnosed and it became a way of life and forgot that it was a problem. I will come back to this later.


I used to have wobbling noise from the rear side and VST guys told me that I had a tyre problem and it needed replacement, I asked them to tell me were the problem in the tyre is, so that I am convince to replace it, they where not able to show me, So live with this problem for a year or so.


I had a wheel puncher and changed the tyre and found that steering was difficult and took it to XL tyre dealer and he examined the tyre and said one of the bakes is jammed, to my surprise I saw one wheel was actually barking at one place when you rotate it on the jack. The dealer recommended a garage near his shop and I got the brake drums cleared, So the guys at TATA authorized service station does not have the basics of car technology.


Which cost me a new tyre I had to shell out Rs.3200.00 for a new tyre due to the inability of the tata service center.While checking the break drums, I asked the garage guy to check the engine for stalling, he said without staring the engine, change spark plug.


I told him to change it, he did it and the engine was back to shape, no stalling or knocking. I have to say changing the spark plug is a Hercule task, you dont believe, it took me 2.5 hours to change all the 4 spark plugs. it is kept in such a cumbersome place that the company given tools will never help in removing the spark plugs. another example inferior design and inferior service quality at TATA .


Again it proves TATA authorized service station does not have the basics of car technology. I don’t know how much of fuel was wasted for more that a year. Hi All7/10/2010This is the Third year, the cars still going strong very little trouble. One trip last month to Bangalore from Chennai gave me 14.5 KM Regard.


After a year of usage , my views of this car is pretty good.the mileage is still a issue Service has improved by leapsthey did some free replacement of some components unheard of in the service station . Like the gear lever knobe, window glass winder. over all it did not give me much trouble, exaclty at 5000km the spark plugs needs a replacement or the it gives problem.


I got the valves taper adjusted by a qualifed engineer with the help of the VST manager and the engine is now very quite Nothing much to say. I am happy that I got this CAR from TATAArvind GK2008/March/03Hi ALLI own a XETA 1.2L version @ Chennai bought 16/2/2007 on my birthday Service is bad from both concorde & VST @ Chennai, even if TATA says it is service is first quality.


The very first vist to Service was made in aweek to get the tail lamp repaired, was not working. got it done in a few minutesNext week the hatch back did not open again went and got it fixed a few min job.Next again for the same door repaire.


A sort of tired I am by now Next week I go to fix some plastic right side parts, they tell me I have leave the car for a day to paint the plastic part and then they will fix a new one, I left the car, I get the car after 4 days with lots of followup and finally the VST service manager helps to give the car, and what do I find the plastic part is replace and a 3rd class painting done and top of it the entire left side is damaged again they hold the car back and they fix the damaged by painting, again 3rd class painting done .


By the time I am tired to follow up with the VST, they give me the car a half done job. I have decided to live with it so did not say a word and left with the car half doneNext I tried to fix a left side ORVM (the rear view Mirror) I got it after a staggering 4 months followup the concord guy tells me ORVM is in stock and I can come and get it fixed, I am made to travel all the way up to 40Km to concord ECR shop as none of the city service center has the part.


On reaching I am told we have the part but broken that too after 1/2 hour of waiting, I went to service manger and complained on the shabby working status of TATA’s service center , He promises to fix the part at my home and said will send the part by next day . The story contionus I dont tget the OVRM for next 3 days, This time I made up my mind to get it done so I followup till they are fedup with my call and finally after 5 days the OVRM arrives and they fix the OVRM in my office.


Mileage I get is 7 Km, I do not know how guys get 13/14 or more as per the guys in this site. On talking to the enigneer at VST and Concord e I am told the best I can get is around 11 on highway and in city between 4 to 8KM , they have all resons to explain why I will get such mileage , the myth of 14KM is broken by the engineers of TATA service.


(Pl dont give the lesson on driving skill, I have a 20+ year of driving exp. )At the first service at 3500Km, I had the following compaints, Car dragging to right, wiper not working, hatch back opeing issue. The hatch back opeing was sorted this time in a few minutes, I was told that the right drag is arrested and wiper was fixed,


But was not done. (they fooled me) I am planning to sell this car in next six months and will try & get some other car this time I will do my homework and then I will by than taking it granted the words from the members of MouthShut_Official.


Tata has a good car made but the service is equally bad, The question is what is use of have a equipment that does not have a good service backup. What is the difference between a roadside mech. and TATA’s service center, I think both are same except for the with the roadside mech. you stand in the hot sun with the mech. and in TATA service center you sit in a A/c cabin still feeling hot from inside .


RATAN JI are you aware of this ?21/10/2008 It is a 18 months old car now, the mileage has increased from poor 5-7km to 10km average, it could because the engine is free due to running in, oil change and improvement is Chenna is traffic conditions.


Now VST service follow up is good, they come home to service small issues. As usual you got to wipe the entire car once is comes back from the service center.
