Xeta can getya !

Indica Xeta

Tata Motors is surely going to have a super hit with this one; provided the car performs well in the long run and they have a good after sales strategy.

The Xeta is the latest offering from Tata Motors targeted at the middle income group who desire to have a spacious and a powerful car. This petrol variant is lighter than the older petrol horses from Tata; the processor is 32 bit this time compared to the older 16 bit one. This is a 1400 CC petrol MPFI engine and they claim to give you up to 70 BHP at top rev.

This car comes in about 5 variants depending on the features and off course the price! I chose to try the GLG version which comes with a power steering, front power windows, fog lamps, body colored bumpers, and a rear spoiler with brake lamps.

This version costs about Rs 3.65 lacs (on road) in Bangalore, the wagon R’s and the Santro’s of the world probably cannot match this price for a similar version.

Now the major question, will this car perform well? Can Tata make a decent petrol car?

I don’t think the Tata’s would want to spoil their chances anymore and my intuition is that they would hit the jackpot with this …

I took my test drive last week, it’s got the space of an Ambassador and the drive was quite peppy. There is enough leg space in the back seats and the boot is decent (although not impressive like the wagon R)

So what are you waiting for, test this machine yourself...
