Plus and Minus of Indica Vista

I own a Indica Vista, purchased few months back. I opted for the top end, i.e, Quadrajet Aura.

I have seen a lot of reviews flying around MS, I have decided to give my own review which maybe be useful for already owners or those who are planning to buy.

To start of with Plus:

  1. Price is attractive for a prospective buyer with limited capital investment.

  2. Fiat engine with good mileage. I have been getting 16-17 kmpl with A/C on. On highway I was getting 19km on 80-100 speed and between 100 - 140 speed I was getting 15 km.

  3. Pickup is excellent right from first gear. We can call it a linear pickup. I drove this car between Hyderabad to Chennai and back after a week. I touched max 140 with 4 people inside and the engine was perfect. Car picked up like a rocket and beat almost all the cars on the highway.

  4. Interior space is good for a 2 in the front and 3 at the back. I mean comfortable seating.

  5. Driver seat adjustment for short people and tilt steering for comfortable driving.

  6. Excellent shock absorption and good braking too.

Now comes the minus:

  1. Tyres are of the cheapest quality. Infact my front tyre burst when a speeding pulser’s footstand hit it from the opposite side! A gap in the size of a 2 rupee coin is seen! Anyway I claimed the Tyre through insurance with just half payment. Surprise is that this Tyre is not available in any Tyre shop! They claim that the company produces low quality tyres.

  2. A/C blower got conked and was replaced 3 times in 1 month!

  3. Cheap plastics inside and outside the car. Perfection is totally lost if you look at the fixtures. Door fixtures and handles are coming off.

  4. Electrical connections are not upto the mark. I lost 2 sets of halogen bulbs, my twin horn sounds horribly after 2 months. My JVC touch screen player got burnt and I spent Rs.3000 to rectify the burnt parts.

  5. My battery went dead on the second month! Had to send it for replacement.

  6. This car is a frequent visitor to the tata service center. My car was sent to the center almost 15 times in 6 months! All were for rectifying defective parts. My Maruthi Alto was sent 3 times till date in 2.8 years!

I am still holding on the car mainly for the driving comfort and interior space suitable for my family. I feel this vehicle is better for the rough indian roads, Highways and for the heavy traffic. Readers kindly share your views on this vehicle.
