I owned this car when it first came into the showroom in Bangalore. Probably september 1st 2008. I had to run a hell lot around these dealers to get the car within the time they told me@....%@....
This is one of the worst things to anyone, dealers of Tata cars a pathetic, they just want customers to book and pay, once that is done that is the end of your existence for them.
Anyways, I finally got the car on road 8th Oct 2008. Within 2 days I had to go back to the workstation to get some repairs with respect to the manual auto lock and the LED’s at the poor windows. These are very bad in most of the tata vehicles so please check this carefully. LED’s got replaced only now [This is what I meant when I said pathetic].
But all the above are minor issues that too for me who travels daily by car fearing to take my bike. I did do a trip to Goa/Mysore/tiptur/Ooty many a times with this car and it is a beauty. Always obedient and starts in the very first twist of the key. Reliability-wise it is great to own, but stability I would not say since the breaks are without ABS and wet roads with high speeds totally not advisable.
This car can be packed with more stuff than any other car in its segment is what I feel personally. People may be wondering even though I have put 4 stars to this, why I still do not recommend this, the reason is very simple, cars depend on how it is serviced. I own both a maruti and tata, and I feel the service maruti do is far more advanced and transparent as compared to tata.
I have thought of selling this car within 3 months of me owning it because of service. For a car to be good, the service should be better than good. Here, service is worst.
But at the end of all this what can my advice be to you, BUY A SWIFT [I did not since I needed a car within a month, swift was booked for 6 months.
