VALUE 4 MONEY CAR,LOTS OF SPACE,WORLD CLASS ENGINE

I had test driven Tata Indica Vista Quadrajet 2 years back and had loved it back then. Read my previous review at

I changed my Santro with a lot of hesitation. It had served me well. No complaints. I was looking for more space and more power. But decided against petrol due to frequent fuel price hikes, poor mileage and poor low speed torque. I was truly impressed with the compact 1248CC(1.3lit) Multijet Fiat engine.Weighing at 185Kg it belts out lots of torque (75pounds per square inch @4000RPM) and very very fuel efficient. The engine is claimed to be good till 2, 50, 000kms requiring low maintenance.*

This engine is fitted on Maruti Ritz & Swift(LDI, VDI & Dezire)and is known as DDIS. But Maruti DDIS cars have a minimum waiting period of 3-6 months and have poor rear leg room. Fiat Punto & Linea use a higher90 PS version of this engine. Indigo Manza quadrajet also uses a 90PS engine;Shortly SX4 diesel will also have the 90PS engine. Quadrajet engine (Tata’s name for the multijet) is very environment friendly and surpasses euro 4 emission standards. Worldwide sales of this engine has surpassed 4 million indicating it’s wide *acceptance.

Ford Figo uses a 4 Cylinder 1399 CC CRDI Engine(69 BHP @ 4000 RPM) not as efficient as the Multijet engine. It has much less head and leg space compared to Vista.

I have been using Vista Quadrajet Terra Drivetech for the past one month and have logged close to 900kms. I can confidently say that no car can beat the space this offers . Interior plastics are of acceptable quality .The legroom and head room for driver and passengerare great. The boot is OK for 2 large suit cases. The rear seat leg room in this hatchback is roomy and better than many sedans. Indica vista has nothing in common with Indica as it is built on a totally different, larger and bigger platform.*

A/C throw is good and pleasant; So is the power steering. Vista offers tubeless tyres as standard fitment. The steering column can be tilted to suit your height & convenience. One large instrument console in the centre of the dashboard gives data on everything from speedo, engine Temperature, hand brakes, battery status, turn indicator, seat belts, air bag *etc etc. There are seperate smaller consoles for fuel gauge and tachometer.

Thanks to the superb Quadrajet engine, The car performs like a breeze in stop and go slow metro traffic. You can comfortably move with traffic in 4th gear between 25-30kmph.Overdrive is comfortable beyond 40kmph.The throttle is very responsive with loads of enthusiastic torque tugging at you.Mileage so far is around 11kmpl;This I am told will *change after 1st service & resetting. Most of my friends are getting around 14-15 in city.

The interiors are well insulated and you will never feel that this is a diesel as there are no Grunts, jerks and noise. Engine response exceeds that of petrol after 60kmph with quick

acceleration due to turbocharging.Tatas have done a superb job with the suspension.small

pot holes & bumps do not matter anymore.

Currently, Tata bears the cost of comprehensive insurance. There is an useful extended warranty for additional two years for Rs5000/ extra.(car has warranty for 2 years).

Tata indica Vista Quadrajet Drivetech is a Good Value For Money proposition, with it’s world

class Multijet engine and loads of space.
