Would strongly advise all to avoid any Tata Motors bookings - in spite of repeated calls, am unable to get a refund on the 1.4L paid in April 09 for the Tata Nano. The Tata Nano helpline provides a different date for the refund each time I call and each time they do not refund it.
To top it all, there is no interest that Tata is apparently liable to pay for the delay in refunding my booking amount. This looks to be a company in severe financial trouble - due to JLR deal and other issues - and is now sitting on customer money to tide over its financial woes. Not sure if and when I will get a refund at all.
In short, beware of paying Tata money upfront for any vehicle you may intend to purchase. Regretting the day I got carried away by the Nano hype and put my money on it. I am putting the complaint up at all consumer forums as well.
