Good Connection, Customer Care needs improvement
After using Tata Indicom’s Broadband Internet Service for the past 9 months, I guess, this is the right time to write a review .
Pros:
====
(+) Speed, Page Loading: Very good. Tatas always give what they promise. I could always download 50 MB or so within 10 minutes. I think it is quite different from Airtel Broadband, which I had previously.(I used 256 kbps connection). Also the speed is fast always(Airtel slows down during peak hours).
(+) Connectivity, Uptime: Extremely good. I think it never went down even once during the past 2-3 months(I think there were some problems in the beginning)
(+) Technical support: Good with knowledgable staff
(+) Price: With 1100 Rs, you will get 256kbps unlimited. Thatz really competative
(+) Billing: Very good. I didnt have to pay even a rupee extra due to billing problems. Much different from my Reliance cell phone
Cons:
====
(-) Poor customer care. One needs to wait 10-20 minutes to talk to customer care person. In between most of the time, you will go through infinite loops through the automated voice instruction system
(-) No POP mail connectivity. You cant expect to use Microsoft Outlook at home connecting to your GMail account.
(-) Dual billing - To Tata Indicom and VSNL, seperate bills are to be paid(!). Tatas could not even complete the integration even after 4 yrs.
(-) Application, Connection: It took almost 3 weeks to get the connection after finishing all formalities. As Tatas require customer verification and it is done by an external agency, it took that long.(We even had Tata Indicom optical fiber connection to our apartment, even before I applied)
(-) As expected from Tatas, their internet site gives lot of unhandled errors!
All in all, I think my tata Indicom experience is satisfactory. After initial hickups, things were smooth and speed was wonderful.
I hope, my feedbacks will help at least a few to take a decision on Internet service.
