This is in continuation to CNN IBN Report on Tata Indicom. I have a **2 mbps connection with a 3 GB download** limit on a Tata Indicom Broadband in Bangalore - Cox Town.It has been a roller coaster ride over a year now. Have monitored it closely and realised that we are still in the dark ages in an ever increasing technological advances. Because the line is fixed from poles, there are frequent disconnections. **The downtime is very high.*
The tech team says - **that people are stealing cable lines every time as a standard excuse. When you come back from office to do some work at home thats the time Tata Indicom broadband fails. Either the **speeds are at 120 kbps** or the connection is not available.
When you call the customer service center- they will quickly give you a complaint number accommodating your requests. What follows is nightmarish. **YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW UP WITH THEM**. When you call them next day, they tell you that the problem has been rectified and the tech team has called up the customer and confirmed.
*THIS IS WHERE THE LYING BEGINS...**I do not understand - how can a customer service complaint get closed automatically without the customer having okayed it?. I think the problem lies in **no written/ email documentations** in the system. So, we are left at the **mercy** of the customer support and tech teams of Tata Indicom Broadband teams.
I have sent number of mails to the customer support team to address the perennial problem of** low speeds but it never gets solved.
*Maximum I have ever got on a 2 Mbps line is 1.3 Mbps on a lucky day! So there is never satisfaction. This is really sad...especially in **Bangalore the IT hub of India**.I will not recommend this to anyone.
*Beware**......I did recommend to my office colleague - and now he is also **suffering**.We are in the media business and I represent a global ad agency and we have high traffic usage on the net and thus broadband is a necessity.
The business being global in nature - my calls extend into the night - video conference . Additionally the VPN brings the speeds down by half...thus when you get a 120 kbps - effectively it comes down to 60 kbps on a VPN - which means I cannot download my mails.
I dont think even **Ratan Tata** can do anything about this - wonder why such problems are not getting escalated to be solved once and for all. This reminds me something of what we face with our Cable guys - till Dish TV came in. It looks very much a nexus.I am sure problems in broadband exists elsewhere too....but not the way where things get covered up and is lackadiscal in Tata Indicom.
When there is no connection, we get a downtime credit pro rata of the monthly bill - which translates to** Rs.20/ a day!** This IS C%$P! When you are so used to broadband, especially when you work the nights from home - no availability or slow speed of connection is **HAIR RAISING.** You are left to browse from your GPRS Phone (at low speeds of 40kps)
How come there is **no credits for slow speeds**? Some one in the Telecom Industry shoul take note on these points and regulate further to protect consumer interests.
Just wanted to highlight this issue since it never gets resolved.
Thank you
A discerning customer
