Exasperated with TATA Indicom Broadband

My experience with TATA Indicom broadband is three weeks old. I took a prepaid connection paying them Rs 999 and I got the connection in 5 days. However, for the 1st week, the connection worked, each day, for just an hour. After that it would go off & any page I tried opening would show "Page cannot be displayed". I called up the customer care everyday, and they never gave me a complaint number. As a result, each time I called, I had to explain my story all over. Finally, after a week, the problem got solved, only to be confronted by a new one. A broadband connection through cable is supposed to be "always on" but not so with Indicom. If I have an appointment with my friend for a chat at 10 in the night, I will definitely have to turn on my pc aat about 9:30 pm. The WAN light on the router will blink away to glory for about half an hour, before a connection gets established (note: the WAN light is supposed to glow steadily for you to have a steady connection). Now that I have the connection on after waiting for 30 mins, do not expect that you can chat seamlessly. In a span of 30 mins, you will logged off & back on to the internet atleast thrice!!!


I have called the customer care on numerous occasion, they even sent a technician to my place to check it out. The technician was more intent on closing the problem ticket than actually solving it. He spent exactly 10 mins in front of my PC & said that it would not aoccur again. But as soon as he leaves, the problem comes back. The present situation is, I get a call from the cutomer care everyday (they are doing a good follow up though ) asking how the connection is doing, I promptly tell them, nothing has improved. They are fast enough to respond that they will look into it & get it corrected, and my connection goes back to square one.
