First of all I feel sorry for all those who had bad experiences. Like giving a review about bad experience to warn others it is also our duty to appreciate those people who render excellent service. Yes still there are people who do excellent work and deserve appreciation.
I am writing this review after using the TataIndicom Broadband connection for more than 3 months. Previously I was using Dialup and GPRS Connection in my Pocket PC with BSNL. I was looking some faster connection and obviously the Broadband came as a first choice, then I looked for the service provider. Being in Trichy, Tamilnadu my choice is very much limited so I tried for the Broadband options with BSNL. I registered several times for the Connection thru Internet and also registered directly by visiting BSNL office and waited for nearly 4 - 5 months... No response even till date.
In this condition I saw the TataIndicom ad in the Newspaper with a contact Number. Coz of the Past experinces with service providers in our country I preferred to visit the office in-person so as to confirm about any hidden charges or conditions in fine print. When I entered in to the office I was received by an young chap, I explained about my requirement and the reason of visiting their office. He patiently explained the available plans and answered all my questions.
I decided to go for Explore Plus 500 MB Router plan which will cost me Rs. 425/- per month and an initial amount of 4200/- which includes all initial charges including a new Router, installation charges (3000/-), security deposit (Refundable - 1000/-) and the service tax. I paid the amount thru cheque and I was asked to wait for a week, as my place is new in their map.
I opted for this plan coz for an amount of Rs 425/- per month with a monthly quota of 500 MB @ 512 kbps speed (the fastest available at this time), an exclusive Router Connection, a Fixed IP address (you can use it for hosting your own website in your own computer / server), 50 MB email Space (Preferred email ID), Online usage details (updated every day at mid night) that allows to keep track of the usage and limit within the Quota.
First there was no response for a week, I thought it is a typical Service Provider who never bother about the Customers so I called up the Customer Service and enquired about the status and also specified that I never received any type of info from their side (expectation due to my stay in USA). Within 1 hour I received a call from their local office in Trichy and the lady who called informed me that the Posts are being laid and it is nearing completion. I heard a noise near my house, I came out and to my surprise the Metal Pipes was erected near my house and the service persons were working busy with it. They erected several pipes for more than half a kilometre just for this connection.
Next day I received another update call from Tata Indicom Local office and the lady informed me that the connection will be given on the same day before evening and enquired about the time convenient to me. I fixed up the evening timing. By around 11:30 am two service persons came to my house and laid the internal wiring It was raining at that time and it picked slowly and started lashing with thunder, the bell rang up and to my total surprise the service person was standing infront, fully wet due to the rain. He came with the Router safely packed in a plastic cover and kept inside his service bag.
He installed the router and tested the connections by being in touch with his counterpart over mobile and finished within 20 minutes. Then he guided me to configure my laptop step by step explaining me the significance of each step. I configured my Laptop with Fixed IP, DNS, Alt DNS, etc and completed the LAN Configuration & Router Configuration. This took me another 30 minutes. He gave me tips for effective usage of Quota like keeping the router switched off when not in use so as to prevent passive data exchange that happens even when we are not using the Internet and to prevent from Virus / hacker attack. The Service person stayed with me and guided me till I am fully satisfied with Setting & Configuring.
I downloaded and installed a Software called DU Meter to monitor the Data usage locally in my laptop. This software shows not only your usage detail (daily, Weekly, Monthly) but also gives you details like data bandwidth, Speed (upload / download) and many more both graphically and with audio alerts. You can configure it to give a mild beep whenever a specified amount of data is transmitted / received.
From Day one it is a breeze to use the internet connection except for few instance of technical difficulties I faced like formatting my laptop and losing all configuration. Every time when I called up the customer service, it was a real excellent support they rendered. Once you register your problem, within few hours somebody will be calling you from their local office, informing / guiding you in solving it. It does not stops here... after solving they once again call you to confirm your satisfaction.
The Speed is true 512 kbps which I checked several times by various downloads and by using the DU Meter software. If the speed is low, then it is sure due to the site you are visiting but not due to the Bandwidth limitations of TataIndicom Broadband. This we can very well check by downloading from a reputed sites like Microsoft / Yahoo.
The usage detail are true and exactly matching to my usage, no hidden charges or other charges (if you stay within your quota, else only charges for your extra usage, @1.50 per MB). The Bill comes in a neat A4 size Cover with all details with a portion at the bottom which we can fill, attach a cheque and drop in any ICICI ATM Drop box.
And finally to my surprise I even receive alert emails from TataIndicom Broadband whenever there is more usage than my average usage so as to alert me about downloads due to viral activity.
I am writing this review mainly to appreciate all those people who work round the clock to give excellent service. Establishing an organization is a hefty task and above that maintaining the quality at its root level needs true dedication and deserves appreciation to encourage them.
This is my first review, writing about my first Good experience with an Excellent Service Provider in our country after being in USA and other countries.

I am updating this review after several months since I wrote this review.
Do you believe, their Services are still more efficient and Excellent even after so many months. Infact, they improved their service in more better ways, the response time is less than 10 minutes for Phone Response and less than 20 minutes in case of Physical site-visit inspite of their office being more than 10km away.
In case of technical difficulties, they personally give a call in the mobile and give update about the process & estimated time. They continue giving update, periodically till the problem is resolved. Finally they even call up to confirm the satisfaction about the Completed Service Call.
In case of any unexpected disruption of service as happened to me when a lorry dashed against their cable structure, disrupting the service, a backup dialup Internet service is provided and in less than a couple of hours they put the service back in full swing.
I whole heartedly thank TataIndicom for their Sincere and Continuing Excellent Service they provide here in Trichy.
Let other service providers learn the Best Practices from these hardworking, Sincere People.
