Dirty Little Secrets of Tata Photon+ (UPDATE3) (Dear readers...please see the last update below) Pathetic Service again. I called Tata Photon customer care 3 times regarding slowest internet connection. At last a technical person came to my house. He did some stupid stuff in my comp. He was browsing several websites. He made some fake phone calls. After that he told me, some repair work is going on. So he asked me to call customer care again after 2 weeks. They forced me to close the complaint request. Again after 2 weeks, I called Tata Photon customer care, telling them the problem is not solved. They told that their records indicate that complaint has already been resolved!!! This is cheating customers. So again the rude Customer care raised a new complaint request and told me to wait for another 2 weeks to the resolve issue. I told them in the 4 weeks time, I have lost so much money, why I should pay them???

1) USB device gets reaaaaally hot very fast (in 1-2 minutes) I doubt the lifetime of the Photon+ USB device.
2) The Photon+ USB is detected if I ONLY insert to only a specific USB port. In my home laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate) I have 3 USB ports in the front. The Huawei software detects only the USB port which you first used to install the software. After that if you insert Photon+ USB device in any other port it does not get detected !!!
I confirmed this behaviour with my office computer (Vista SP2) as well.
3). Evenings and Nights very poor signal. No HSIA "high speed" signal detected at all. Only CDMA...That means ultra pathetic slow mo speed.
I will update here as more secrets are revealed to me!!!

I bought a Tata Photon + recently (Bangalore). First of all Tata Photon+ is sold by third party distributors.They will come to your house anytime giving you a false impression that the customer service isnothing less than perfect. Even if you request through the Tata Photon+ customer care...the request is sent to 3rd party people.
1) Activation happens ultra fast - the agent does that in your home. You can’t believe such lightning fast service in India!!!
2) Once agent leaves house taking your money, you are all on your own to connect to service. The fun begins.
3) First there is a Huawei Access Manager software which is installed when you plug in Photon+ USB.
4) There is an indicator which says CDMA (or) HSIA (high speed internet access)
5) You have to run around your house like crazy for the indicator to show "HSIA". So in every sitting place in your house you wait for 5 mins before going to the next place. See the picture (Tata1.jpg)
This useful tip was given to me by the agent after I wrote the cheque and handed to him!!!
6) Once you get HSIA status, your heart begins to pumps fast..You quickly click connect button. Wait for 2-3 min to connect. During connection you get the same feeling as if somebody is announcing the winner of a reality show after watching it for 3 months!!!
7) Once connected the link speed shows 2 Mbps. Wooohoo you say.. And you freeze your sitting posture (not moving a muscle) in the fear of losing the HSIA signal.
8) Happiness is short lived. The HSIA status suddently changes to CDMA after 5 minutes.
9) In CDMA status the internet speed is pathetically slow. Think cellular internet speed.
10) You watch the Huawei Access manager in shock...and pray that the status changes from CDMA to HSIA.
11) After 5 mins of staring at the status...Nope....It has not changed.
12) You pull out the USB...plug it in again...and continue from STEP (5) again
Tata Photon+ is a piece of sh...crap for some (Customers) good money for others (Tata)
