Passing the buck as in their TV ads !!!

After having moved back from overseas about 3 years back and the complexity of getting a ration card for address proof for other providers, I settled for Tata Photon plus due to ease of getting a connection. Hv been a loyal customer with prompt payment and so on, without even comparing any other competitors better offers, as I do not like changing my service providers for just saving few bucks. All went well till the time, I started travelling around the country. Connectivity issues in lot of tourist destinations but still did not complain and started using my iPhone wherever there was no coverage from Tata.


Few months back, I planned to go on a long break to Yercaud in Tamil Nadu. I forgot to carry my dongle from Chennai, and I went to a Tata Photon shop to get a replacement dongle in my account. I explained the situation and the sales consultant understood that I need internet connectivity in Yercaud for big downloads and, he suggested it wl be easier to get a new connection than getting a replacement dongle for the new number. I followed his advise and got a new connection with a new dongle. Guess what - I did not have coverage in Yercaud and the whole purpose of buying a dongle was defeated. I had to drive 25 kms everyday to get to the foot hills and download big attachments to carry on with my business.


After coming back to Chennai I saw a promotion on website for existing users to upgrade their dongle for better speed. I went to a nominated shop and told that I wanted to upgrade my old dongle and he did the same, once I paid 750 rs. On using the new dongle, I did not see any change in the speed and I called customer service and they said the dongle I have bought is same as the functioning dongle I have got and it is not an upgrade. I was furious and told them that, why on earth sell a dongle as upgrade, when I already have a functioning dongle with me. The best part of all this is I had 1 dongle of my new connection and 2 dongles of old connection and none of the dongles worked on my Mac book. Bills were coming regularly even when the problem was not fixed and it was just going out of my account.


I was so irritated about the fleecing of this network and called customer support to cancel both my connections. Every time the CS team asks the same question why do you want to cancel and I had to give the same story to everyone. Finally, I said you read your transcripts of all my previous correspondence before talking to me. Now, I leave this network as a totally disappointed customer, who was loyal to them for over 3 years. I am in the process of disconnecting my Tata Sky and have already ported 2 Tata docomo mobile numbers to other network.


TATA group wl never be used by me or my extended family or my friends and the people whom I can connect with on the WWW, as I only back Brands who talk the talk and then walk the walk.
