I bought a tata photon from a tata sales executive on 18 dec. He promised 2-3 mbps till 5 gb and after that 256 kbps.
I never got more than 100- 150 kbps and kept on complaining for 10 days, nothing was done. Somebody came to give me a welcome kit, on 29th I think, when I showed him the slow speed, and that when I call the helpline 1800266121, my photon number is asked, on entering 9243232381 it says the number is invalid. He said its still not activated and he will take care of that, and stopped receiving my calls after that
Then one Archana called from customer care and told me to do 5 speedtests, the results were something like 160, 130, 170, 150, 690kbps.she told me since the average of these 5 is 260, so that means my average speed is more than the promised 256 kbps, and I should be more than content.
Then I called that salesman who promised me 2-3 mbps and asked him why he did not tell me about 256 being actually the promise, and that too average, he said that those technical people misdirect and I will get at least 400kbps, something he never uttered before. And that he will send someone, but nobody came.
Then I emailed the nodal officer stella thomas and was assured that my grievances will be addressed in a week. after 4-5 days she asked me my photon and phone number. after that she mailed me that she is not able to reach me. About the nodal officers efforts to reach me, I did get calls from this number 08066691330 but the moment I pick it up it gets disconnected, and I cant call back.(in my phone this number is in received calls, not missed). And I have given her 1 more number which she never tried. But yes, I have been given welcome call 5 times, which feels like salt on my wounds. I wonder why she cant reach me when they can.
When I call your helpline 1800266121, my photon number is asked, on entering the number it says the number is invalid, so effectively, I cant even complain to anybody but only the nodal officer as the guy who sold me this does not answer my calls.
I NEVER GOT MORE THAN 200 KBPS, mostly 80-150 kbps, if the speed is very fast at night so that the average is 256 kbps, I dont know. After more than a month of complaining, they sent a man on 21 jan to check whether my speed is actually slow, that guy Mr. Mahesh confirmed that the speed is slow. So the next day they sent a man to put an antenna in my house with a thick wire to connect to my photon, they claimed it would increase the speed. even after installing the antenna, the speed was slow. Then the tata office told me that because I have crossed my 5 gb limit, my speed would be less now, unless I pay the monthly fees. I said that I will pay if you just show me the speed only once. They said it is not possible, I have to pay.
I am a doctor and have no time or energy to do all this. Now I do not want this useless photon even if they increase the speed because it took them 1 month just to admit that the speed is really slow and they should install an antenna.I am going back to my airtel considering it a learning experience.
This review is just to warn people not to go for this photon.
