Handy for one-off usages, not as primary conn

Purpose: I had to frequent hospital for 4-5 months to take care of my Mom’s op. Hence bought this to be connected when in hospital. ( Was spending 5-6 hours everyday in hospital). Intention was for browsing and checking my official mails and work from there.  No heavy downloads or streaming.


Location: Chennai South, Central


Connection: Was OK most of the times, but used to drop with out any reason, though signal strength was high.


Speed: Was slow (around 120 - 200 kbps), reminded me the dial up connections we used to have . But my expectation was also low hence, no bad feelings on this. But the promises of 2 Mbps etc as advertised are definitely BS. Speeds are OK for browsing , but not for downloads, streaming etc.


Customer Service: Be cautious and pray that you never have to contact these folks. Pay bills on time, understand your usage limits and be with in that, dont hope to get your connection drop out , speed issues etc corrected through customer care. Simply put - "Be a disciplined customer"


Service Initiation: I bought this from a Tata company outlet itself and things were breezy and the service was active next day and have no complaints


Service Closure: Things get interesting here.


I cancelled the service after clearing all due payments. But in spite of that every month there was bill for the service which I wasn’t using. The funny thing is that the billing amount used to vary between months, for zero usage....hmm interesting billing system !


After the due date of each bill, customer care pesters me over phone and as a sincere consumer, I explain them of service closure. The representative assures to "take care of the issue", but only to end up with another bill for next month. The story repeated for 3-4 months.


Finally, I told that I’m not going to pay the bills and company can take any action they need. I wanted that atleast this will take my case to senior folks in the company, where I can seek some closure. But alas, nothing changed and bills kept coming for next 2-3 months!!! Now finally the bills have stopped and I believe ( & hoping) they’ve closed my case.
