I had been using Tata Indicom plug 2 surf( now photon plug 2 surf) for the last one year. I have used it in places like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Kolkatta, etc.ie., almost covering half of India!
I was forced to write this after seeing some very bad comments on this equipments performance. Dear friends, first of all it is was not fair to expect very high speeds on wireless internet! A wired connection will give you the best speeds. I mean broadband speeds of 2 MBPS.( However very recently Reliance and Tata has come up with USB modems claiming more speeds than the wired Broadband, which is yet to be proven!)
But what Tata had promised for the Plug 2 Surf was found to be satisfactory for me. Please do share experience with people who were using Reliance USB modem. Tatas product was any day better than Reliance. I had chances to use the Reliance wireless internet, which I found was offering a much slower internet connection with an unreliable connectivity.
Instead of speed one should always see the convenience of mobility offered by the USB modems compared to your traditional wired broadband at home/office.
So anyday I would rate Tata Indicom USB modems to be better than its competitors.
However these equipments are on the verge of extinction on the arrival of the TATA PHOTON PLUS and RELIANCE BROADBAND PLUS! For all speed lovers let us see how they perform with their new EVDO technology.
Till then, Bye
