I have applied for Tata Indicom Broadband connection sometime back on some offer (it was Rs. 3000/- for 5 months with no installation charges). They came to my house for collecting the chek within hours after I called them. then my hard times started. even after 10 days of encashing the chek, I did not get any connection. finally, they gave me connection after callling the customer care several times. after connecting, with in two days.
I logged in to Tata Indicom web site and checked with my usage statistics and billing information and I was shocked to see that within two days of giving the connection, they have deducted 600/- as the bill for first month. I called them and asked about this. they said it is their normal billing cycle and I lost my money. and, whenever you try to connect, the network icon on the taskbar (bottom right side of the monitor) shows the status as connected and the speed is 100Mbps. but, when I open my browser, nothing happens. out of the Rs. 3000/- I paid them, I did not even get Rs. 100/- worth of service. when I call the customer care, I have to hold the line for more than 5 min for speaking to the person and whenever you talk to them, you feel you are talking to somebody travelling in heavy traffic (because of the disturbances in the line). when was lucky (happend only once in 1000 times), I could connect to the network and when I try to download something, at the initial moment, the download speed starts at some 50 kbps and withing seconds, drops to 2 or 3 kbps. I never saw the download speed at more than 5 kbps (mind you, the speed of the connection I took was 512 kbps as claimed by them).
Finally, I had to change my address and asked them for shifting the connection to my new address. they said, it will cost me Rs. 500/-. so, I simply left the equipment there and I am trying to forget the thing (what to do?? once you pay them, you cannot do anything. I am considering I have lost my vallet containing Rs. 3000 in it instead of thinking I have taken tata indicom connection). the experience is like that I am never going to buy any Tata service or product for the rest of my life.
