The helpful sales officer came home and gladly accepted a cheque for the prescribed amount and left with beaming eyes. The installation person came about 2-3 days later to set up a cable for connectivity. Tata Indicom provides a CAT 5 cable right to your home. 256 kb connectivity. 1-2 days later the technician came to set up the computer and connected me to Tata Indicom. And the story began...
The connection would work only 10% of the time. In fact, Tata Indicom believes in the Murphys law for providing broadband Internet connection. "The broadband will not work when you want it to.". Every day, the network would show no connectivity.
It would take frantic calls to Tata Indicom to get connected. In fact, I remember celebrating the day I got connected without having to call customer service. I had initially signed up for one month. The connectivity was intermittent. I thought they were teething issues and decided to renew for six months. Now, I rue the fact. I hardly ever get connected. In fact, I am writing this through a dial up.
A strong piece of advice to anyone who plans to go in for a Tata Indicom
Broadband - DONT DO IT.
