Tata Photon Vs Reliance Netconnect+

For all those who are keen to know how Reliance’s Netconnect+ is performing in comparison to Tata Photon, please be advised that it is no better than Tata. I have taken a reliance 3.1 Mbps connection, and I am also facing the same problem of dropouts, inadequate bandwidth(only 512 kbps to 1.4 Mbps max till date), with an average of 700-800 kbps only. Their customer service is totally useless, and impossible to get through to any technical expert.

I personally feel, that what both Tata and Reliance are hiding, is the fact that the stated 3.1 Mbps speed is the theoretical maximum limit when the entire bandwidth is dedicated to a single user. However, in wi-fi arena, this is not ever possible to achieve as the medium is shared amongst so many users simultaneously. This coupled with the fact that the backend bandwidth at the gateway available for all users combined may also be limited, causes the bottleneck in bandwidth availability to last-mile/end-users.

Therefore, the data card supporting 3.1 Mbps does not necessarily mean 3.1 mbps availability to the users. Consequently, with no assurance of a dedicated bandwidth availability to the user, the tariff structure is abnormally high and not at all commensurate with the performance guarantee to the end-user.
