Tata Indicom - NO....NO....NO...

Tata Indicom in my experience is the worst telecom service provider I have had the misfortune to be associated with. Earlier the problem was with the wireless “Walky” that I subscribed to. The “fast” speeds promised by them proved to be a fast one. The connection besides being pathetically slow used to drop so frequently it wasn’t funny. All their customer service desk had to offer by way of explanation is that due to the phenomenal response, their servers are choked and it is in the process of upgradation “as we speak”. Besides, their bills never reached on time and they used to keep suspending the outgoing calls facility. Fed up with all this, I asked them to refund the deposit and take away their instrument. They disconnected the line after 5-6 reminders but the refund is yet to happen even after 5 months. The instrument is still lying with me.


Then there was the broadband saga. I assumed (to my misfortune) that the “Walky” experience was an exception, after all “Tata” is one of the most trusted brands in India – but I guess all good things have to come to an end. A pamphlet was dropped at my residence which talked of a free installation. I fell for it. I called the mobile number given on the card and the next day itself a Joker came by. I call him Joker because he did not understand the concept of Kbps, LAN card, DSL, RJ 45 connectors etc. The only thing he knew was that he was selling a Tata internet connection. Still trusting the Tata brand name, I selected a plan and gave him a cheque for 3 months. This was a prepaid plan. The installation was supposed to happen within 2 days. 2 weeks later I have not heard from Tata Indicom, other than a call verifying my address.


Last week when I called the Joker to ask him when the installation would be done, he said the network was not clear. He hung up and did not call back. I called back around 25 times, but he used to either switch off his cell or not take the call. Persisting, I called from another number. He promptly took the call. I blasted him. He was not fazed. He said he was not in charge of installation but I took the number of his DSA office. That number is constantly engaged. I send a mail to Tata Indicom’s service desk, but no reply yet. Not even an auto reply acknowledging receipt of my mail. Needless to say I am still waiting for Tata Indicom’s revert.


My strong recommendation to one and all is to never make the mistake to signing on with Tata Indicom.


BTW...the lowest rating one can here is poor....how does one rate piss poor?
