Pathetic customer service

This is my 5th Tata Indicom broadband connection (which I am getting terminated). Let me summarize my experience each time -

  1. My first experience was with using the TATA Indicom VData card in Hyderabad. The service worked fairly well, the connection speed was good. I terminated it because I was relocating from Hyd to Delhi.

  2. After relocating to Delhi, I got a new Tata Indicom wireline broadband connection in I.P. Extension - this was by far the worst possible connection in terms of reliability I have ever had (and I am reasonably sure it cannot get worse than this).

It had perhaps to do with the poor infrastructure setup, The customer service though was great, and each time I used to call up, there was someone who could understand what I was saying, and there was a follow-up call each time to ensure problems were resolved.

Problems used to arise almost every week, and I finally gave up after a few months. I replaced it with an MTNL connection, which had none of these issues.

  1. My 3rd connection was again a TATA Indicom VData card (company provided). I needed a connection for accessing the internet while on the move - this time though the connection speed that was offered was pathetic, worse than a dial-up. Their customer service too seemed to have deteriorated to a point where there was no attempt to address or solve problems with a product which they seemed to be phasing out.

  2. To save me from my misery, my company upgraded the VData card to a photon USB connection. This has been good so far, the connectivity though seems a little unreliable, but it still does the job more often than not.

  3. My fifth and perhaps last connection with Tata Indicom is their WiMAX broadband connection. With this perhaps I have used all their broadband products and can hence speak with some authority.

I took a new connection since I moved to a new locality. Their internet connection speed has been good with WiMAX, the sore points though have been the long boot up time required by the model (upto 5 minutes), pathetic customer service (my connection has been suspended even before the due date for non-payment). Its time I think these companies stopped taking customers for granted, particularly when it comes to customer service.
