I live in Mahadevapura - Bangalore and my personal preference was Airtel Broadband. Frankly my budget was 555 plan from Airtel or at a max of 750 plan. The reason being, I had no real use than checking and sending personal mails.++++++++ My Prejudices +
Since I had been usingAirtel and Reliance I thought its the best available compared to Reliance and also withTata.++++++++ The options I had +++
I called up the Airtel guys, only to know after a week that they have filled up enough connections in this area and have no more connections available. They also informed me that I have to wait and even they dont have any clue as to how long I have to wait.Having this option out, I tried to check up with Airtel Wi-Max for which I was informed they dont service in my area (Mahadevapura)
.At this juncture I called Reliance and Tata checked up to know their plans. I have only two options Reliance Wi-Max or Tata Indicom Wi-Max. And I had to shell out 3000-4000 atleast for a 2-3 month connection. I did not have any lesser plans to choose from in either of the service. (I think this is more kind of Market driven rather than Customer Driven!!!)++
Reliance Service Sucks ++++++++I felt the Reliance plans were cheap and went for it. Initially two guys came home collected the forms, photos, my cheques etc. They informed me that I would get the connection by EOD next day. I had been waiting for 2 weeks no news. At the worst, they started speaking cold saying "I have to wait if I need a connection". This came from the Manager of Reliance. The agents who collected my checks disappeared and began to cut my calls.I live in Mahadevapura - Bangalore and my personal preference was Airtel Broadband. And I had to shell out 4000-6000 atleast for a 2-3 month connection. I did not have any lesser plans to choose from in either of the service. I cancelled my check given to them and incurred charges of Rs.200 for cancellation :)++++++++ I called TATA ++++++++*issed off. I called TATA through JustDial. Around 6-7 called me. At the end I finalized on an agent who said has given the connection in the same flat I am living and referred him also. He also came promptly. I I had only this option finally. Tata Wi-Max. I checked with my neighbour he said the connection is "ok" for his spouse to check emails and he too had no other option. He had went for the 384 kbps speed unlimited upload and download for 3 months connection for Rs.5500 and on which he got one month free.Okay I made my mind will go for the same. Paid the cheque for the full amount. But I was informed this free one month offer is not there for this month. (To be frank this is some kind of cheating, after I got connection about 15 days later; I got an SMS thatthis offer is there but when I called my agent he still was saying this is some false message and its not there even now!!!)++++++++Got the connection++++++++The service guys came in and had setup on the 3rd day. The connection was ok. I doubted if that was 384 kbps connection. Did some test and it was less than the said. After few days I experienced issues pertaining to speed and initial connection. It took too much time to warm up and connect to the web.I am not really happy about the connection speed. It is very hard to know the speed through various speed tests because of the fluctuations. At peak hours I can see the delays obviously. During Rail booking etc., it just slogs.++++++++Rating++++++++Overall, I would rate just "Average". But really NOT A VALUE FOR MONEY".Go for it only if you dont have any other option. Personally its better than Reliance but not better than Airtel. At the end of day, may it be Airtel or Tata, in India itsthe Product that drives us and not the other way.Update - 04-July -2010I moved to 512 kbps speed from my 384 kbps since the difference in cost was only 100-200. I have not got a speed of 384 in my previous plan and now I am not getting the speed of 512. On an average I got only 200 kbps on the former plan and now getting 350 kbps on 512 plan. The internet disconnects every day and I need to call the call centre and spend about 30-45 mins everyday to troubleshoot. They do not accept it as an issue with their antenna. I even changed from a desktop to a i5 processor laptop to see this helps. No way the issue is totally with Tata guys and the customer support sucks. Planning to go for USB data card. Any recommendations?
