I live in Hyderabad Uppal area, actually further deep, I call it a village. To get literally any kind of technological stuff going around here is a night mare for me, for example I had to get Tata sky because there were no "reliable" cable providers at the time I moved in. I am very satisfied with the tata sky connection so far.
So you can imagine about a landline phone connection or Internet connection was out of question. BSNL was ready to give me a landline connection but no internet, so I opted out that. I used to live in tarnaka area first where I got everything readily, but because of high rents I had to move outskirts.
So the airtel broadband connection I had was discontinued because they didnt service in Boduppal area.
So I had to use the unlimited GPRS service Airtel provided for 499 Rs. However I am a heavy internet user outside my work hours, I need VPN for work and its a nightmare during emergency situations when I need internet.
To add to shock I came to know Airtel discontinued the Unlimited plan, and charged per kb, thats a nightmare disaster for me.
So then came my friend who told me about Tata indocom Wimax which he took and had very good opionion about it. He lives in Tarnaka area.
But I used to read about the negative feedbacks of Tata Wimax on mouthshut and was not so impressed with my decision. But, my options were limited so I applied for a tata wimax connection on their website. THe guy from Tata called my next day and told me that they service my area and a connection is feasable, he also did a survey of my house. I live on the 2nd floor the tallest in the area so the reciever can be fixed on the terrace.
I agreed for him to come and install. I payed 4 months advance so that I get the installation fee waived. I took the 256kbps unlimited plan for 750rs excluding tax. Initial disappointment was that he told me the connection would be fixed in 3 days, but he came 1 week later because according to him, heavy demand for connection left them with no equipment.
As I was a chicken with no option but to jump into the river and cross because I cant fly, I told him "whatever" and got him to fix the reciever on the terrace. All the time I just kept him asking one question, do you have strong signal. He had this laptop with him and showed me that the signal strenght was very strong. He also said that the tata wimax tower is hardly a km away and was visible from my house so I should never had a problem with speed or connectivity. Finally around mid December I got the connection fixed till date the connection works awesome.
I get 250kbps average speed and never had connectivity issue. The technician was right, my signal strength is very strong. I get very good download speed, I download all my fav movies from bittorent now. 700mb of movie in 4 hours is great. After the connection the technicians called me twice to confirm if I had any problems.
SO I am a very satisfied customer. I am sorry for the others who are not satisfied.
