I am now using Tata Indicom WiMAX for more than 3 years. Overall I am very happy with the connection below are some pros and cons of that connection
Lets start with the bad things first:--------------
Their all unlimited plans has fair usage policy. So after fair usage they claim the speed will drop to dial-in.
After you exceed the fair usage, you will get repetitive call from their call center which irritates me. After repetitive request also, these calls never stop.
In competitive market they are little costlier then Airtel, Act, Tikona etc.
Log-in expires in every 11th hour. So if you are doing any automatic download, better be alerted.
I experienced some configuration issue with some Chinese brands routers. working fine with belkin and cisco for me.
Modem doesn’t has any indication if internet is up or not. With winXP it takes 2-3 mins to configure after modem restart. But for win7 and later it takes almost 5-7 mins which is high.
Now the good things:---------------------------------
The speed what they claim I found always consistent. In last three years I hardly remember any speed drop.
Their service is awesome. In most of the cases my problem got resolved in 2-3 hours after I logged the service call. In case they have to visit my place, within 1/2 day things got resolved.
They always entertained me 24x7. I called them late evening and early morning. I got response.
Their service people has good technical depth. Atleast few cases they helped me to configure my router (which is not part of their service) without charging anything even after visiting my home.
Though they have fair usage policy in all their unlimited plan, I never seen any speed drop after I exceeded the usage limit. So I will say you can ignore the point.1 in cons. section ;)
They have flexible plans for the old customers which are not listed in their website. Many times I upgraded my plans and got good value for money.
Their network coverage is good. I have seen their connections even in places where other wired or wireless broadband are not available.
Their antenna is really small and can be fit anywhere. So its easy to get the coverage in a densely crowded locality.
Modem and installation charges are free if paid 3 months advance rental.
I am extensively using their service and till date I am happy with that. In next 6-8 months I will shift my place. They claim the relocation is free for me. Lets see their service and coverage then. I will keep updating the notes.
