Indigo CS is the latest addition to Tatas stable. The looks are good.
I went for a test drive yesterday the ride was quite comfortable. You
cant ask more for a sedan which has been priced less than 4 lakh
rupees(ex-showroom, petrol version). The car handles well and the
aircon is good. There are only two variants, one which is basic without
power steering and the second one is quite a bargain.
The high end
model comes with a power steering, a/c, heater, ORVM adjustable from
inside and full wheel covers. It is an 1.2 litre engine and there was
no noticeable power loss with the airconditoner on. The interiors are
also good which give a feel of a C segment car. The rear seats are
foldable for additional luggage space and can be reached through the
boot.
The engine noise and vibration were minimal. Of course there are
minor problems like the gear shift which feels slightly rubbery in the
fourth gear, too hard brake pedals and the door locks - you have to
shut the door with a thud otherwise it refuses to lock. I liked the
approach of the dealers(TAFE); the sales person acted professionally
and did not push for a sale. I am hoping upgrade from my Zen to Indigo
CS in a couple of weeks. More details to come after the purchase.
