Good Car Bad Build

I went to see the Indigo CS yesterday. (GLS Petrol). The sales officer was very patient and answered all my questions. No pressurizing. 100 marks for him. But felt sorry for him. A really good chap with a not so good product. Well, a good car... good package.


On a closer view, the car that was displayed at the showroom really disappointed me. The paint job was bad (faulty) and the boot simply refused to shut! The doors had to be banged to get shut. He was briefing me about the vehicle, and folded the back seat to show me the additional luggage space. When he tried to put the seat back to position, it would nt lock back ! I cannot blame the dealer since the vehicle did not go through the PDI at the dealer’s point. But I did find a PDI sticker on the vehicle. It was from the factory. I wonder how a vehicle with these obvious defects passed the PDI at the factory. Or is this the quality control of TATA?


If the quality control omits these clearly visible deects, how can someone foresee some major defects that cannot be seen with the naked eye? In spite of the above, I must admit, the vehicle gives good comfortable riding position. I am not so impressed with the driving position. The front seats are comfortable and I had the feeling that I am in a cockpit of an aircraft; the road in immediately front could mot be seen much. They could have offerred a tilt steering.  The rear seat could be more slanting towards the back to offer a good riding position. The silver lining on the steering wheel looks cheap. Could have bettered it. It looks as if it is about to get rusted. (The same with all Indigos). The body seems to be very strong. Did not take a test drive, since I have ridden Indigos earlier. This is my first experience with this car.


I was about to purchase this car. But now, I have second thoughts.
