Vrooom Indigo !!! :)

Hi, I bought my Indigo LS 6 months back after going through numerous reviews both on print and the internet. All the auto magazines and websites I went through (including autoindia and overdrive websites) showed indigo diesel in good light and hence I decided to buy Indigo aka India Go’’ !!.

Now the experience :-

First of all, definitely its NOT an Indica with a boot!! This car is packed with loads of features unimaginable at its price, starting with very spacious leg space. The diesel engine is ’’Turbo Charged’’ but takes over only when the car reaches 60kms/hour, ie, its really useful on highways. The ride is very smooth, more so on the highway than within city limits. When in city, frequent GEAR SHIFTS are the order of the day, it spoils the FUN factor of driving, but the ride quality hardly suffers !!.

At high speeds, the excellent road grip and handling capabilities of this car will make you feel confident and safe. The brakes on the other hand are all ears for you..very loyal..your car stops where u expect it to !!!. Seating arrangements can’t get any better for a car from this segment. Shock absorbers work amazingly well and I have no complaints about the Air-conditioning too, but..... the gear box is a disappointment, the gear shift is not as smooth nor precise as you would expect !!. The interiors look a bit plasticy too with a dashboard which can at best be called average. But the lil lil complaints I have of this car never stands a chance against the features it offers. It’s a true value for money car . Last but not the least, this car has excellent boot space (450 ltrs), so you will never be left wondering where to keep that extra luggage !!.

The mileage ??..I get 12-13 within city limits and 15-17 on highways (both with A/C on).

With loads of features at a very good price and with spare parts readily available and comparatively cheap, no wonder this is the fastest selling sedan in the country. (At the time of writing this review, 50, 000 units have already been sold).

Update 26/12/2005

Its now more than a year and a half since I bought my Indigo. It has covered 22, 700 Kms and is still going strong even though a few squeaks from here and there is something I have learned to live with !! On a very bad day, these rattling sounds could drive you up the wall !!. .Refinement is THE key area TATA should concentrate on in their future models.

I had to visit my dealer three times other than the usual service visits, and two of those visits were to get rid of the rattling sounds and the last one to replace her wiper blades. Well, I have had no other trouble with this car, which I think is truly amazing when you take into account that I have already covered 22, 700 kms. !!

So, overall I am very happy with my Indigo and would recommend this car to those people who are looking for a value for money, decent performance, low maintenance, family diesel car.
