I am owning TATA Indigo GLX from Mar 2004. I feel this is time for me to give a feedback on this car.
This car was running good till I had a long drive 3 months before(I drove from Hyderabad to Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu). I drove this car for 3200 KM in a span of three weeks time. The total mileage on this car till now is only 14850KM. During this period my original warranty got expired. But I have extended warranty till Feb 2007.
The following are the problems I noticed. Pathetic condition is that, car reports some new problems every time it gets out of the service station, after the service. Surprisingly Concorde Motors (Hyderabad) guys say that, they are all working good! And these things (like some sound, etc) are normal!.
The following are few problems (out of many) I am listing here.
My suspension was giving a little sound(at 14KM mileage). I changed the ball bearings. But now that sound is not coming, but some other sound comes from left front wheel. As per service dealer it is normal!.
Steering was giving very bad sound. Concorde motors guys said, Tata Motors came up with new version of power steering and is a known problem in older version. I asked him, is there any call for it from Tata Motors. He said, it is applicable only if I have original warranty (Extended warranty is not applicable for it!!!!).
I got it fixed by making payment. Please note till my warranty expired I did not face this problem. My warranty expired just five months before.
Lots of vibration from the car body. Some dirty sound keeps coming!!!.
Water Leaks from A/C outlets especially more, from the defrost vents on a long drive.
Speedo meter does not work properly at high speeds after 60KM/HR.
Engine does not start in the morning hours. It jerks when I on the ignition. Car was kept with Concorde Motors three days to identify the problem, but they said there is no such problem. This really irritates me every day morning, while starting the car to the office.
One more important thing I noticed in this car is, the originality goes off, if you do service for any problem. No quality service and I doubt on the experience and expertise of service dealers especially the Concorde Motors(Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad). Some times I get very weared and irresponsible answers from them.One of the service advisors once told me that “leave it sir next time we will give discount for 50 Rs!!!”. I met the service center Manager, but his behavior showed me that, he can be a good service manager for Taxi drivers and not for owners of Luxury sedans!.
By all these experiences, I will not recommend this car for any person who expects perfection and quality in life. This car is not meant for self-driving professionals or executives.
One of my co-worker had problems with the Engine of this car(His mileage is also around 15K only), the other dealer in Hyderabad(Mallik cars) some how fixed it for free(though warranty expired). He is also dissatisfied. One more friend of mine in Bangalore told me that unfortunately he got this car, he don’t have any option other than keeping it at home and driving his scooter to the office!!!.
So I feels all the proud owners of Indigo GLX should have similar problems with their cars. Please give your write ups, so that we will see is there any action taken by any one.
