Bad Build Quality.

Now it is more than 2 years I have beenn using a Tata Indigo Marina (Petrol) vehicle. I bought it when it was just launched in our city. I have hardly done 18000 Kms in this 2 and a half year. There have been many problems which I wrote to Tata and their dealer but nobody listened from the very beginning.

The build quality is very poor. The plastic is cheap. The AC knob and panel gave away and that too I have been using is very carefully. Suspension system gave away and I have to get all the buch, etc. replaced. Some nuts and bolts of the system do not easily open and they were removed by cutting. All the cost is to our account. The exhaust system has also gone. The last portion from where the fumes are emitted is almost rusted fully. The pipe in-between also did not fit properly. The engine on lower RPM has absolutely no power seems it lacks torque.

The paints at a few places is showing signs like blisters. I tried to contact helpline and they gave a phone number of Tata Indore but nobody ever picks up the phone on that number.

Average is also very very bad. The fuel meter failed within 10 days of purchase. The clutch plates were changed within two months. All the body creates a noise. Seats are sounding always. And even dealer is never able to repair it ever.

The cabling to the engine from the dynamo/battery or something I am not sure about was to be changed which was charged and is too expensive. The car will not run in rains as the moisture fits in somewhere near the cable and the power is lost. The fuel tank is a cheap skiny creature and punctured in a small speed breaker.

Tata will never be able to do a good car. They have just spoiled a great concept. The concept is really good but the build quality is very very poor. I think the only good thing in the car is alloy wheels, Blaupunkt Stereo, Remote control and Radial Tyres - which fortunately Tata do not produce and I had to pay big money for these fitments. Still they lost the remote of the stereo and I had to follow for two months to recover one.

If somebody from Tata was listening, I would have possibly not written this review here. I strongly feel that all the shortcomings in the car even after these many years are purely related to the design, build quality, durability and after sales service. These are purely responsibilities of TATA.

May be someone from Tata would like to know my views which may be in their interest. I don’t think I would recommend this car to anyone for such a huge price. Now I have to buy another car and feel like have been cheated by Tata.
