I find it to be a big paradox that because a car becomes affordable people start talking about pollution. The fact of the matter is that the rich are feeling jealous that a 4 wheeler is no longer a status symbol and even a common man can afford one. Nano will meet all the emission norms. The only fallout I see with easy affordability is more chaos and road rage. People need to keep their head over their shoulders and drive sensibily, learn to respect other road users. Mother nature is generous to accomodate all of her children.
But I personally do not trust the Tatas. Customer service is going to be pathetic. Those who tried the Tata CDMA phone will vouch for it. This project may not be viable in the long run and the only option would be to jack up the prices with some cosmetic changes to justify the increase in price. The base model would only be nominal and they would promote the fully loaded models. I am not sure if Nano has power steering. There is talk of a model with AC. Let us wait and watch how it does in the small segment car market in India.
