I bought my nano cx on November 9th from Concorde motors, Velachery, chennai and sold it yesterday to Maruti True Value to buy - PEACE OF MIND. Here is my short history with this contraption.
Summary
Kms done: 2600 km
Long distrance: Chennai-Tiruttani-Chennai before 1st service and Chennai-Vaitheeswaran koil-Vriddhachallam-Chennai last week.
Mileage in chennai suburbs - Around 12 TO 15 kms with 100% A/C
On highway - 19 TO 20(100% A/C) if you drive at 60, drops rapidly at anything above 70.
Ride: Good on good roads, jarrring and bumpy on anything less than perfect roads. Sometimes, one gets the feeling that it is not a car but an auto on four wheels. Manoeuvrability is fantastic though.
A-PILLAR design: All nano owners please be careful when driving in crowded areas. The extra thick a-pillar can cause nasty surprises for you and unwary people on the road. When turning(especially right), please look through the driver side window much before and prepare yourself. You may even need to stop before turning.causing others behind you to honk of course! One may argue about thick a-pillar design in cars like JAZZ, SX4 but these cars have engines in the front and have a longer over hang in the front than the NANO.
Brakes inadequate with A/C on and capacity full: The rear engine causes extra thrust causing longer stopping distances. This car encourages you to zip through because of extreme Manoeuvrability which can be extremely dangerous for one and all.
Also, with the a/c on, the car seems difficult to stop in low speeds, what the continuous thrust from the engine at the back. Maybe, I have to learn a different way to drive this car. And to make things worse, this behaviour is somehow not consistent.
Problems
Starting trouble from day two. Battery and starter motor replaced after repeated visits to Concorde motors, ECR. I am almost like an employee there. For every issue, they keep the vehicle for a minimum of 3 days!
Last month, after I filled up petrol, the vehicle refused to even crank. On ECR, just 5 kms away from their service center, it took 4 hours for help to arrive .:-(
A/C failed twice! Last week, they changed the entire a/c asembly.
I was driving last weekend to my parents house in oorapakkam last sunday and brakes failed momentarily near vandalur! And that was the last straw on the camels back. I was told it could be due to vacuum loss that could sometimes happen in low speed if the engine coil was weak or faulty! Not to worry.just jam the brakes hard and you will be ok again. That was i.t My family refused to travel in this car anymore. I lost a whopping 70K in just 4 months.even the share market cant beat that ha ha ha.
The engine idling keeps varying as if it has a mind of its own. Sometimes, it is smooth.sometimes.it growls like a mad dog.sometime it goes brum brum brum like a lorry or a bus idling.very very funny but irritating.
Guys, .tata is just cheating everyone with this car. Even the dealers dont want to see this car as it has low margins and is still strictly work in progress. They have made indian customers guinea pigs in the process of selling this car. Please stay away. Go for a used car(any brand) if you dont have the budget.you are much better off.
Add to this the terrible service of tata.you are walking into a potential nightmare with this so called car.
I thought by investing so little I couldnt lose much but in the end have turned out to be pennywise pound foolish. BEWARE OF TATA, TATA After Sales Service and TATA NONO.
Hope this helps save some of you your hard earned money and not lose your peace of mind.as it happened to me.
Finally, please pardon me for a not so structured review.
