I am writing this review as a first ownership report of the newly launched Nano XT or Twist. This definitely is not my first car and not the only car I drive. I have picked the Nano twist incidentally but not thar it figures on my to trial choice. It was just accidental that I picked up the test drive.
Now, to get to the point straight at 2.58Lakhs this car is worth the deal. I should be honest to admit that the Nano stumped me from expectation. The ride quality for a city commute is clean and sweet not much to complain here.
The interiors are quite pleasant in new beige seating and glove boxes. The AC chills you and not to leave out very handy Bluetooth feature and a not clumsy music system though nothing great to sing about.
The car is REALLY spacious inside with ample head and shoulder room. The downside is that not much storage space is available except for some cleanly camouflaged glove boxes and magazine sow always. Ideal for a bizz meeting hurry commute but dont expect this car to be a weekend getaway.
Plastics have improved leaps and bounds by tata standards I have seen. But there is room for betterment. What tata needs to know is TWIST is going to be owned by city commuters and most of who would not be first time car owners. This leaves the interiors and seatings that can be a couple of notches above. Also the balance from centre of gravity can improve, I get jitters when negotiating steep turns or park ways where the car kind off gives a toppling feeling.
The car is currently giving me a clean 17kmpl at bangalore. I am straight smiling as most cars claim fuel efficiency but they are far away when delivering in the city commute.
The Nano certainly is not a powerhouse when coming to the engine and mechanical department. However the 624cc engine chugs along without cluttering and yes the tata guys have found a good way to keep NVH really down. The cabin is relatively quiet and yes you can attend to phone calls on Bluetooth. For someone used to a bigger car this can feel underpowered.
I am exploring a lot many shortcuts to get home faster after I got my nano which I never did with a bigger car. The Nano Twist is easy to manouver in small lanes and the power steering offers ample ease.
Simply put the car is a good city commute, light on maintenance with tata offering a 2 year free service for 60k kms. With power steering, powee windows, music system, bluetooth and DISand tubeless tyres I think there isnt more you can demand
