MY IDEAL NANO

The history writers are very rare to find, it is a brave step indeed by Mr. Ratan Tata to keep up to his promise and give India a car that a two wheeler owner would always aspire to have one.

Here is my view on my ideal Nano if at all I buy one. At this stage of time, going by the hype the media and the interest of people, Nano is definitely not a good buy.

Nano will have to undergo a major change in the coming years to catch up with the mood of the next generation. Maruti 800 was no doubt the cheapest available on Indian roads until we got to see Nano but going by the technical features Nano has to offer, now Maruti 800 becomes the cheapest car for the technology and price ratio.

The price that one has to shell out for a luxury version of Nano, approximately 1.7 lakhs for a 600 cc engine car is still a costly affair. For me the costliest bike is the best deal compared to a cheapest car in the world. Nano is definitely going to be a favorite among two wheeler owners, so please go for one, your wife will love it and kids will enjoy the change, but for those who have owned at least a Maruti 800, Nano seems to be a compromise.

I would definitely buy a Nano even at 2.5 lakhs if it ever rolls out with following features: A probable step by step upgrades of Nano from Tata stable with approximate target release from today;

  1. A CRDI diesel version (They are working on it) (Target - 2 years)

  2. Gearless or semi-geared. (Target - 1 year)

  3. Nano electric version will be a sure hit all over the world (Reva will succumb if electric version of Nano is rolled out very soon) (Target - 3 years)

  4. A futuristic Nano solar version (high hopes !!!) (Target - 5 years)

  5. GPS enabled

  6. Dent proof and scratch proof body, something similar to REVA.

  7. This option would be an unbelievable but possible. Replacing all three-wheeler Bajaj autos with Nano on Bangalore roads.

If it happens, the image of Bangalore would be re-written on global map. Anyway I don’t own a car, so sorry if anyone got discouraged with this (I cannot say this is a review). It is only my point of view. My friends feel it is a HYPE and NO STUFF AT ALL. Kudos Tata has kept up the promise.
