Ratan Tata wanted to build a car for the masses at 1 lac rupees, but the entire planning and the project turned out the failure. There were many reasons for the failure.
The most important one was that the cost of the car was not 1 lac, it was about 1.5 lac, second reason was the poor design, thirdly this car was for the highways but for the city traffic.
At the same time maruti 800 dropped it’s price and was available at 1.8 lac(base model) and that too affected the sale of Nano as there is no doubt on the quality of Maruti 800.
