Tata Sky is one of the oldest DTH services providers in India. My dad has been using it since 2000, had 2 connections, but now has just 01.
The picture quality and sound quality is good. When we purchased an full HD TV, we upgraded to HD box where the HD channels were free for 1st month and HD channel quality was superb.
The support and service is okay, we usually got to our uncle for any queries/ changes in product/packages as he is the biggest dealer of Tata sky in our city.
The packages are very costly of Tata Sky if I compare it with Videocon DTH which I have in my rooms on 2nd floor of my house. I pay Rs 450 for a pack of Videocon DTH and I get to see all the channels where my dad pays more than rs 500 per month for Tata Sky and he gets limited channels, no English movie channels. Not worth value of money.
