I got a Tata Sky connection yesterday. Not a bad product. Serves the purpose. Picture quality is good. The installation guys did a decent job, but had to make calls an entire afternoon to get it done on time. They did not ask for tips which is good.
There were a few hitches with the call centre and their account management. The dealer (Shahs, Adyar, Chennai) from whom I picked it up had asked me to pay the installation charges to the installation guys when the come to do the job. After doing the job, the installation guys had told me that the payment for the installation had already been done.
Today, I get a message on my TV stating that my connection would be disconnected because I hadnt made the payment. On registering my account online and checking the account status, it said that there was a negative balance of Rs. 520.38 for which I made a payment of Rs. 520. Now, several hours after Ive done the payment, Ive been receiving messages from Tata Sky saying that my connection if I do not make the payment by midnight today.
Now, coming to the user interphase. It is extremely messy to switch channels. It does not have an option to organize channels in our order of preference. This makes it difficult to switch between your favourite channels. Though there is an option to select upto 20 channels in the favourites menu, there is no option to switch between your favourite channels using a single press of either of the channel switch buttons. So, you need to get back to the main menu or remember the channel numbers.
The worst of all, the main menu plays some really really irritating voice only advertisement which keeps repeating on and on and on as long as you are on the home page.I think, the user interphase is extremely important because it makes my TV sessions more irritating than ever.TATA Skys ResponseI got a call from Tata Sky taking feedback and they sorted out the issues.
