I am a resident of Mumbai….and heard about the great revolution named Tata Sky, through advertisements and word of mouth .Some of my close friends have installed the same and were very ‘WOW’ed with the offering/service…I thought of presenting it as a gift for Diwali this year to my parents-in-law, while I will be in Bhopal for the festive season!


I came for Diwali holidays to my parents place in Bhopal on on 1st  Nov, and didn’t know that my trip will become a nightmare, courtesy Tata Sky!


The  Ordeal


We started off by enquiring about the Tata Sky dealer closest to our home, went to the store and bought the box.we were briefed by the trader about the procedure to be followed(regd registration and request for installation visit by concerned personnel) .We came home and started the gruelling procedure of registration through phone(it seems they have more customers than phone lines, hence it’s a lucky draw to get the line free)till the operator came on-line and told us politely that the Digicomp number we are sharing is already registered and its on some one else’s name! We were puzzled, then went all the way back to the trader to confront him. he cut a sorry figure and told us that maybe the piece was collected by someone earlier and they must have forgotten to cancel their registration on return! How Amazing!


We had no choice but to digest this explanation and we took a different box…finally we got ourselves registered and got the customer id. No….


We were told that the technical guy will come and install the same in the next 24 hrs  .which he did  on 5ht Nov 07.His name was Ashish Verma .all of us were happy that its on and its working fine .but it lasted for some couple of hours .suddenly the screen turned blue and the respective channel could b heard but no picture …we switched off and after a while switched it on .it was working fine but again it got hung the very same day it was installed .


Frantic calls were made to the technical person( but the guy coolly refuse to acknowledge our calls and on the second attempt he switched off his cell…it surely gives us  a very good picture about the services Tata sky promotes …today is the 4th day and I am compelled to write this mail to you as till now the successful brand has only caused us great inconvenience and disappointment .we had registered a complain …and the technical assistance was suppose to come today, 8th Nov 07 .which was committed by your helpline .the 24hrs got over by 8pm and nobody showed up .we called up to check at their end and they said that our case has been rescheduled for 11th without informing us …what I am trying to make a point is.


if u talk big about the services you should able to render the same, even in non-metros …


I, for one, would think twice before referring the service to anyone else given the experience so far! Unless you guys do some amazing recovery in the next few days…which, I would be frank, I don’t expect now!


So much for big bang advertising and brand building.all meaningless unless you make the customer smile!
