I recently bought a samsung lcd ( I have already reviewed it earlier ) , so there came the need for a DTH SERVICE as the cablewallah gave poor reception so it was of no use watching bad channels on a HD LCD TV.There are two DTH providers DISH TV AND TATA SKY
, I opted for the latter because 2-3 relatives of mine had this and
they recommended it to me. I dont know the service by DISH TV , so no
comments on that.
*PRE-SALES SERVICE
*This is always good from nearly every company. I inquired about
their service and plans from their website but it was of no use as no
one replied to my email. Then I contacted their customer care and after 4-5 min the executive picked my call. He explained many things about TATA SKY and told me about the total cost. So I opted for TATA SKY under a scheme with the lcd. The total cost of hardware is Rs 3999 but I got 32% discount as my lcd is 32".
*INSTALLATION
I was told by the dealer that the engineers would come in3 days but the very next day I received a call from tata sky, they asked me when I was free and told me they would do the installation today. They came in 2 hours time and started doing the installation work. One thing I appreciate is that there is a very PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE **in the staff. They did the work very neatly and nicely clipped the wires. One isnt used to such high professionalism in INDIA so I was surprised.
*PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY
Gone are the days of hassles with the cablewallah. I have a new freedom now. The Picture quality is really of DVD class. No issues with PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY , it is really excellent. The experience with TATA SKY has been nice so far. Nowadays , TATA SKY is bringing new packages like sports gold and LIfestyle gold and the fun part is that they have put BINDASS **IN the lifestyle pack and are asking more money for it , I dont know what the guys at TATA SKY are thinking about. They should increase the no. of channels than decreasing it.
*RECHARGING
*Recharge coupons are available in many denominations and you are given a bones if you recharge a large among eg Rs 500 free on 5000. You can recharge via prepaid vouchers through customer care or if you dont have MTNL and dont want to spend money on STD you can recharge via the WEBSITE. There is a option for credit card recharge also. I recharge with SUPER SAVER PACK for RS 300 but there are many other packages available.
*CONCLUSION
My conclusion is that I would recommend TATA SKy to anyone who are fed up of cable and want to have hassle-free TV viewing. The channels are less compared to DISH TV but I dont know if the service provided by DISH is of same standard as TATA sky. I was surprised to see some reviews on bad service from TATA but in my area the service is nice. The TATA engineer told me that if there is heavy rain then the signals would go off. I opted for TATA SKY as its recommendation on mouthshut is 56 % as compared to DISH TV i.e 24%. The only drawback of TATA is that the cost is on higher side as compared to DISH TV. I recommend this product to everyone.
