I bought TataSky DTH about 45 days ago and would like to share my experience with all of you.
First installation process.
I brought up the TataSky digicom and call the customer care service to book the slot for installation. I give them a time to come 2 days later in morning and they do.
The technician send to my home for installation is ok. They told me that the wires will be open. I told them that I have an internal wiring but they refused to install on internal wiring. I don’t know for what I pay 1, 000 to TataSky. Although they clip the wires properly in the wall.
After installation, I found the picture quality is quiet good as compared to cable operator. The sound quality doesn’t look good to me as compared to picture quality.
The menus are easy to use. You can get the program schedule for the next 7 days.
On switching a channel you can view the current program name/information and next change.
Without switching the channel you can view other channel information too. This feature is quiet good.
You can store 20 favorite channels
Tata Sky offers 6 interactive services(ACTVE)
5 Showcase channels for the movie - Pay-per-view movies service through which you can order the ongoing movies.
DISADVANTAGES
One month denominations are not available. Only 550 & 1, 000
Problem in rain. Signal gets blocked in rain and bad weather.
Set-top-box – My set-top box get hanged quiet frequently. Nothing works in hanged position. I complaint this about customer care and they advice to switch off the power and start. Then next time I complaint they say they will register complaint if “digicomp” is in hang position, not on working position. Then again I complaint for it in hang position and they say restart it 20-30 time continuously and still the problem persists. I really fed up with the customer service.
Channel Missing- Zoom, All Sahara News Channels, India TV News Channel
Cost of Showcase Channel – 75 per movie. No English movie on showcase.
Change of channel take a lot of time to appear on TV screen and this is too bad in ACTVE services. ACTVE Sports does provide a highlights and different angle view but only in mini screen and for cricket only. If your TV is 21 inch then it will really irritates you. Different angle view is totally useless.
Account Status information is not correctly displayed. I recharge TATA sky first time after installation and it shows my expiry date after 3 month and the amount I having(50 Rs.) which is correct. Then after 15 minutes the account start showing expiry date as same on which I recharge my account and -500 balances. I contact TATA Sky customer service and they tell me that your expiry date is after 3 months and amount I m having is 50 Rs but still the account information is not showing correctly.
All Zee network channels quality is low; this is may be because of rivalry between them. I review the same in DISH TV and did not found the same problem for Start network.
No different channel available on TATA Sky. Only three channels(Zee Smile, Zee Classic and Zee Action) are available as compared to your Cable operator. DISH TV has more channels to show. Neo Sports and Neo Sports Plus is now not available on TATA Sky. Both channels services are now closed on TATA Sky.
No option to choose channels.
Mute, Volume and others menu does not appear on TV screen if using ACTVE service or ACTVE service logo appear on channel.
ACTVE service is currently FREE but soon it is going to be available on paying Rs 25/pm
Before Buying TATA Sky compare it with DISH TV. Which you think better take that. Don’t go by name.
