I had recently bought a 32’inch full HD Samsung TV. With the analog cable the clarity suffers considerably. I wanted to go for Set top box since it offers DVD Quality picture and digital sound. A few things to keep in mind if you are using a 32’ inch or bigger TV is that no channels in India are HD. So you cant expect a clarity like Blueray which is crystal clear and doesnt suffer even if you sit 1 meter close to the television. Having said that if you sit at a distance of around 4 meters from your TV for a Tata Sky the clarify is simply amazing. it actually is DVD Quality. Same with Audio, not all channel have stereo audio. I found stereo audio on Star Movies, BBC entertainment, Zee cafe and a few more.
The best part of Tata Sky is recording channels, I have set a few series links to record. Now I dont miss anything I would want to watch. now, I can forward all adds. pause Tv to answer a call or a visitor. You just cant miss anything now. The set top box offers 2 tuners which helps you record 2 channels at 1 time. the set top box offers 45 hours of recording on a 160GB harddisk which is assume is less considering the recording you would perform once you have it.
Showcase is a very good feature. Now if you have a nice TV you can enjoy most of the movies as and when they are released in multiplexes. The charges for showcase are 175, 150, 100, 75, 50. Depends on the movie and the day of release. If you want to watch it the first day the movie got released you might have to pay 175. Normally its 75 to 50 rs. But the clarity is simple amazing. Also there are no breaks or interval. So you would need to pause the TV if you need break. I usually set the movie to record.
The channel plans are a little expensive compared to other set top box providers. I pay close to 325rs each month of watch most of the TV channels. Additional I pay for the showcase movies that I order. No more going to treater/ multiplex.
I was a person who wasnt much interested in watching TV but with Tata Sky Plus I get to record any channels I want thus making it impossible to miss anything that you would want to watch.
I really love it. Very very good buy. It does roll out a little expensive but that just one time price you pay for it. But, every single penny you pay is worth it. Truely amazing.
