This is for all those who are watching the TAta sky ads and thinking of switching to tata sky from your local cable wala. the only thing that u will get is clear digital quality picture.
U will pay more than what u pay your local cable fellow.
U will get less number of channels
U will not get to watch the free movies shown by the cable wala(however bad they movies are)
U will hv to stare at blank screen everytime it rains or there’s heavy wind.
regarding the pricing, u would have noticed the advt of Tatasky claiming that the cost is low, etc. Its all a hogwash. Pl refer to the advt in TOI today(6/6/08) given by ESPN, Star Sports & Star Cricket. they have exposed the new pricing scheme of tata sky. U actually end up paying more than what u paid earlier. The base pack has only a few channels. Rest all are put into various packs. and for ech pack, u end up paying Rs. 30 per month. All the new channels which u get by default from your cable guy, are chargeable in Tatasky. u get to watch a few so taht u get hooked on adn then suddenly one day they become a part of some pack and u need to subscribe in order to continue watching!
The number of channels are definitely lower. and if u call the call centre to check why is that channel not available, the exec are clueless abt even the existence of those channel. for eg: 9x M, Zee Next, Bindaas Movies, etc.
So, pls, if u hv not switched over to Tatasky yet, feel "santusht". and stay with your dear cablewala. In anycase the cable walas are introducing the set top boxes. So u will get the digital quality picture in any case.
And about the active wizkids, the lesser said the better. Your child is smart and will learn irrespective of the Active Wizkids. It will only get him hooked on the TV.
