I have been using the tatasky (SD) for more than two years. While buying itself I know its little bit costlier than other DTH operators. I went for it as I was hearing that video quality will be better than other DTH operators. Two years back it was ok as there were only two operators Sun direct and tatasky. That time it was better option.
But in the recent times as so many DTH operatos came in and they are giving the service for competive price. .. we have to think whether tata sky is valur for money?. Definitely its not. Especially for south indian customers. It has very less tamil channels. In between they removed some tamil channels since they have less bandwidth. And still they are using the same old mpeg2 technology so they are almost out of bandwidth.When other DTH operators adding more regional channels tatasky keeps removing the regional channels. This is very bad. And their Video quality is no more superior than other DTH operators. For me Airtel dth (SD) was looking better and the sound quality was better than tata sky while watching in lcd TV. In the recent times , I observed there is more pixelation and sound interruption in Sun music channel and some other channels. It should be because of their less bandwidth I guess. I dont find this in other DTH. Tata sky box also very old.. it has only one favorites setting and u can add only 15-20 channels. Not sure about their recent HD box. Their box is also have more software issues.. most of the time it strucks while tuning. The program details for Tamil Regional channels is not proper and most of the time ’No program information available". It has only 16 hours of EPG program while other operators have more than 24 hours of EPG information.
Only good thing with tata sky is their customr service is good. But we will have hardly have a call to Customer care.
