We bought a Tata Sky digicomp from a Nokia dealer on the 6th of January. Since we are residents of C R Park in New Delhi, we obviously chose a dealer of a Nokia priority Store, nearest to our house. We paid a cheque of Rs.4000/ and was happy with the box as the cable operators were not providing any channel for viewing.
Me & my husband both work and so we had asked the dealer to inform the Tata Sky people to come on a Saturday to connect it. The Tata Sky people turned up the next Saturday, which was the 13th of January, 2007 and fitted the dish at the mentioned angle and lo.we could watch the channels. But the people who fitted the dish, asked for a coupon, which was not provided by the dealer.
We went to the Nokia priority Store dealer but he said that we had paid him Rs. 3000/. We had to wait till the arrival of the bank statement to confirm that we had paid a cheque of Rs. 4000/ to the dealer and still after more than 24 days, he couldnt provide us a coupon, which would provide us entertainment for free for the next 6 months.
In flat 14 days time, our connection was disconnected and the worst part, the remote for the digicomp conked off the next day, the connection was made ie the 14th of January, 2007.
I had to lodge a complaint on the 15th of January. And yes, the helpline number printed on the manual for the northern region is also wrong and after trying the numbers of the southern and then the western region repeatedly, I could finally manage to get the correct number for the northern region. Mind it, all calls made are STD calls, for whatever reasons and the bill keeps soaring as their associates are mostly busy and they keep you on hold.
After lodging the complaint for a dysfunctional remote on the 15th evening, I was promised a replacement of the remote in 72 hours flat.That was a real tall asking and I was yet to realize where I had reposed my faith!
After the passage of 72 hours, wherein we heard nothing from anyone, no calls, no replacement, I called up again on the 20th of January, 2007, a Saturday, wherein the executive promptly told me that the remote has been despatched from their end and that Ill receive it in a couple of days.
Nothing happened in 3 days and again I called Tata Sky on the 23rd of January, requesting and cajoling them literally to send us a remote by the 25th evening as we were going out of town for the long weekend and the executive promptly promised me that the remote will be delivered within the stipulated time.
Still nothing happened.we come back on the 28th night and there was no remote. So, on the 29th evening, I call them up again and was told that the complaint was in the last stage of processing and that I would be given a replacement remote in a very short period of time.but no time-frame has been provided to me.
After more than 15 days of installation, we cant watch a program because of a faulty remote and on top of that, our connection has been snapped because the dealer is a fraud who didnt provide us with a coupon which would allow us to watch programs for 6 months uninterrupted. Where does our fault lie? Where had we gone wrong? Do we have to suffer because we thought Tata was a company to be trusted and the tie-up with Sky will make it even better?
My questions are:
1) Does a company of the stature of Tata behave in such a manner with its customers?
2) Does Tata Sky provide dealership to people who dupe customers at the slightest pretext?(we have the bank statement copy and we have every proof with us to sue them)
3) Why do the exceutives of Tata Sky keep on lying and give wrong information to harried customers?
4) Why doesnt Tata Sky publicly apologise for printing the northern region number wrongly in the manual?
5) Why doesnt Tata Sky have a local number, wherein calls wouldnt cost your pocket atleast, when the services are this bad?
We really dont know where to go and what to do. We have been let down badly and the trust and faith we had reposed in the company are gone. Since the day, we brought home the Tata Sky connection, the peace is gone. We request people not to go for such a shabby product. In todays world, trusting just the name is not worth enough!
