On Feb 17th, I went to Adishwars (the one in Marathalli outer ring road) and got the set top box at 10.30 am as the first thing in the morning. I had too many problems with my cable operator and I was not getting many sports channel. With WC 2007 approaching, I decided to try Tata Sky. I got the whole stuff for Rs 2999 for the hardware + Rs 1000 for the Installation + 3 months free subscription.The sales agent from Adishwars set up the installation appointment with Tata Sky. I reached home at 11.00 am and the Tata Sky engineer called me and informed that by 1.30pm he will be at my residence to do the installation.
He did the installation and by 2.30pm we were watching high quality transmission. My experience with the installation engineer was pretty good. I live in an apartment and the dish was installed in the terrace. Lot of other residents have installed Tata Sky in our apartment complex, so it was not a problem. Make sure your society allows you to do such things before buying the Tata Sky hardware.

Picture is crystal clear and so is the sound qualityThe installation engineer had enough knowledge about the product and gave an excellent demo of how to use the overall menu and the ACTIVE stuff in general. I was very impressed with the speed of their service. I know lot of ppl have faced several problems with overall service, but for me it worked very well. The best part
I love the ACTIVE sports. I was watching the Aus-NZ match, and by the time I tuned in, Australia had completed their batting and NZ had started their innings. Using Active Sports, and I could see the live game on one side and on the other half of the screen - the highlights of Aus innings (gets transmitted from the Tata Sky server) which gets repeated through out. This is some thing very new to me and it was a wonderful experience.
Menu is organized by movies, sports, regional, news, entertainment etc. So it’s easy to browse.
You get to see what are the programs lined up for the next 7 days.4. Showcase- where you get to watch a movie un-interrupted (no ads). This is a paid service and it will cost Rs 75 per movie. 5. You can set reminders on what you want to watch when...The cons-
Moving from one channel to another channel is a little slower compared to our cable television.
Once you use the menus, you will understand that it’s a little painful to go back and forth between different categories.
Sports channel boquet is excellent but regional channels are very few.
They have increased the monthly subscription from Rs 200 to Rs 300, so not sure when the next hike is due...Overall 4.5 stars out of 5.- Shiv
