Tata Sky - You can't disable alerts

After lodging a complaint that I do not want to receive an alert, Tata Sky made changes not to display alert on my TV. Great! However, I continued to receive messages and the alert was transferred from TV to DTH box showing Yellow light.

When contacted Tata Sky, they asked me to read those unnecessary messages to clear the alert on DTH box. It is completely non satisfactory, and they understood problem very clearly. But they continued to talked like parrot and repetitively stated that they will pass feedback to concerned department. I escalated to Meera followed by Azham, but their response remained unchanged.

In our country, we need to make law for obvious disturbance like this where people will keep pumping you with all kinds of SMS, alerts etc, and poor customer can’t do much but to waste his time looking at those useless alerts and messages even though customer does not want to receive those messages.

In this case, they declined to provide timeline or commitment that the issue will be fixed. Likewise, they declined to provide regular update until the issue will be resolved. In other words, this issue is unlikely to be resolved.

I was told that Tata is the most ethical organization, but looking at how Tata sky works, I don’t have any reason to believe it.

Let’s take another example about how Tata Sky works.

Tata sky provides options to select channels or packages, which sounds great on paper. However, you should look at price of individual channels and channels in the same package to see if it’s indeed true.

For example, if you select HD package you pay Rs 75 / month for total of 8 channels within HD package. But if you individually select all 8 HD channels in the package, you pay Rs 280. In logical world, I would expect that total of all channels will be little bit more more than package, but I can’t believe that it can be 4 times the money you pay.

By now, I realize that most organizations think that customers are idiots and so is Mr Gandhi who made great remarks about customer. Everyone wants to squeeze customer as much as possible, and there is no need to listen them or help them by providing any logical services he wants. There is no need to fix their own problems until they are forced by the Government. Welcome to capitalism!

Obviously, you can’t take every company to consumer court for such reasons as it’s very time consuming. I can only thank Mouthshut who allows us to provide comments and let the world realize whom we deal with on a daily bases.
