Tataplay has started very unethical practice to clickbait premium customers into upgrade to Tata Binge when you go for yearly renewal option. I have been a satisfied customer for 15 years and is finally disconnecting due to pure unethical practices by Tataplay/Tata sky. When you go for renewal of Subscription for 6-12 months, it will offer you Free Upgrade to Tata Binge so that you may watch free OTT apps for one month and take a subscription after that if you like. Naturally, a HD+ customer with think what could go wrong with a free upgrade.
Here is what will go wrong:
1. They will take away your old HD+ set-top box with recording facilities and 500 GB storage capacity and replace with Android binge box with only 25 Hrs storage capacities.
2. You can NOT record movies(Star/HBO/most international channels) with new android box as it doesnt allow it with basic recording facility. this was key feature available in HD+ box without any restriction of channels.
3. You can NOT pause movies and many channels while watching.
4. Tata sky will demand you to move a monthly premium recording feature option on Cloud costing Rs 200/- per month extra! On top of it, you will pay extra on your broadband charges for recording and download.
5. Their staff NEVER calls you or tells during installation about features and limitation of Binge box. Only after installation, they will tell you.
6. There is no option to go back to same old HD+ box if you dont like Tata Binge box. They consider it as downgrade and do not allow it. I told them during installation visit itself that I dont like its features and asked them to put same old HD+ set-top box again but they said, it is not possible. They will promise to come up with an upgraded HD+ box within 7 -10 days. If you allow them, then they will away box and after a few days, they will call it is not possible.
Net you will be losing 500 GB storage space in your HD+ Box if you do so called upgrade" to Tata binge, lose option to save/pause/record movies and channels you like to watch with no option to go back to HD+ box.
At the same time, if you disconnect they will give you the option to come back and get old HD+ services and channels by paying rs 4500/- for a new HD box. But not willing to give the same option to existing customer after conning them to upgrade to binge.
Very very unethical practice by Tata sky. Please do not get conned by upgrade to binge offer.
