After its launch in 1998 we have seen very small refinement in the tata safari except the launch of the tata safari petrol Exi which has 135 ps power. But the disel model remained underpowerd with just 90 odd horse power which is just equal to the tata
sumo.
But hey, now tata has launched the new tata safari dicor which has got a (common rail direct injector) engine which produce about 115 bhp(approx ’=’ to Endeavour) and best in the class 300 Nm of torque. It has also got a much needed facelift which includes
1.New headlamps
2.New multireflector taillamps(which looks little similar to the older santro zip plus)
3.New grill design
4.New design roof-rails
5.And it also comes with 16 inch alloy wheel(optional)
etc.....
Could be batter if:
1.It had a little bigger and brighter taillamp
2.The weight is still a problem for this big baby (could be reduced)
3.Indica foglights(something unique is required)
If we look at the interior we can see a lot of neat accessories like
1.Armrest in the both front and rear seats.
2.A reading lamp
3.Cargo area lamp
4.New design instrument-panel
5.Roof mounted Ac
6.L.C.D. in the rear view mirror for a camera fitted in the rear(Hey parking is easy now)

Safari has got a lot of size so tata people could have given a neatly foldable front facing third row seats in the safari, like
the Land cruiser prado.
The Safari web-site also do not contain much information about the availability of the third row seats with seat belts or
the bench type seats
Overall one can say the always goodlooking first SUV of India(I love India) has got refreshed and now looks more promising option to the buyers than its compititors like Scorpio, Endeavour etc.But take a look at the toyotas Fortuner at http://www.toyota.com.ph see what a real suv looks like and as par as the autocar people say it will be soon launched in India and will cost from 7 to 13 lakhs (approx.) just in the same segement as safri.
